School reopened for the academic year 2023-24 for the students of Grade I to VIII on 1st June after the summer break and on June 5th for the Kinder-fun Tiny Tots. World Environment Day was observed on June 5 with great enthusiasm with students participating in talks and dance performances with colourful placards to spread the message of the urgent need to save the environment.

Investiture Ceremony
On June 12, the Investiture Ceremony for the newly elected Student-Council Leaders was held. Captain Sharma, retired Army Captain and President, Karnataka Association graced the occasion as Chief Guest, along with Mr. Ajay Kumar, a renowned Sports Personality.

Founders Day
Founder’s Day was celebrated on June17, to mark the birthday of our esteemed Chairman, his Excellency Dr. Joseph VG with a special prayer for his longevity and good health. The Adult Literacy Programme which was launched on the same day in 2022 for our house keeping staff proved to be a resounding success and the learners were awarded certificates on the successful completion of the preliminary level of the programme.

Scouts & Guides camp
The other highlights of the month were the week -long camp for the Scouts and Guides of DMCS, organized by Nithin Amin, Organising Commissioner Bharath Scouts and Guides, Yelahanka, and celebration of International Yoga Day on June 21 with the students taking a pledge to integrate Yoga in their life by practicing yoga regularly with their family and friends for a healthy lifestyle.

CBSE Affiliation
July 1st proved to be a memorable day for us as we received the grant of Extension of General Affiliation up to Senior Secondary Level, communicated to us through the SARAS Portal, the period of affiliation being from 01st April 2024 to 31st March 2029.

Special Days
‘National Doctors Day’ and ‘World Population Day’ were observed. The Foundation Literacy and Numeracy Programme for the year was launched and a Bridge course conducted for the housekeeping staff.

 

Kinderfun activities
Kinder-fun Red Colour Day and Rainbow Day, National Thermal Engineers Day, Grandparents day and Kargil Vijay divas were all observed with due exuberance and enthusiasm.

August events
The month of August saw us celebrating Friendship Day and Library Day. August 15, Independence Day was celebrated with great patriotic fervor. The Toppers of the CBSE Board examination for Grade X for the academic year 2022-23 were felicitated. The Project Display on the theme ‘Toys and Technology’ was the highlight of the day, with the various clubs like the Robotics Club, Mathematics, Health & Wellness, Heritage, Literary, Science and Technology and Kinder-fun, putting up beautiful displays underscoring their creativity, flair for organization and aesthetic sensibility. The displays were given ratings by the special invitees and parents.

Health Check Up
A comprehensive Health Check- up was carried out for all students and members of staff by the competent medical authorities.

CBSE Activities
The Aryabhata Ganith Challenge, Hindi Divas was observed on September 14. CBSE Expression Series, Reading Challenge, Vigilance Awareness Week, Fit India Week were a few of the CBSE activities conducted.

Ek Bharath Shrestha Bharath activities
Ek Bharath Shrestha Bharath activities partnering with Ladakh were carried out as per the circular received from CBSE. Learning the indigenous sports, folk art, using toys to teach diversity of culture in India, theme-based display board of historical monuments, costumes, painting, dance and music, pledge on swatchatha, no to single use plastic, water conservation in the language of the paired state.

CCA & Sports
A number of interesting and creative activities were carried out on a regular basis throughout the year by the CCA and Sports Committees. Puppet making, Rakhi making, Pottery Mud magic, Food plating, Comic strip, clay modelling, English calligraphy to name a few. Sports is an integral part of the school curriculum. We had a number of sports activities to keep the children busy and active throughout the year. There were inter house matches in Volleyball, Handball, Throw ball etc. Sportz Village activities included Fun activities such as Cricket Fielding, ZIG Zag Roll, Triangular Tag, Twist turn on and skip and many others.

International and National Olympiad Examination
International and National Olympiad Examination from Science Olympiad Foundation were also conducted to enhance their scientific spirit.

Interschool events
Our students participated in the District Level Interstate Taekwondo League held at the Garden City University campus. Students also participated in the Football League Tournament at Mother Teresa School, Bangalore.

Teachers Day celebrations
Teacher’s Day was observed on September 5 with all due exuberance and affection by the students to honour their teachers.

Principals Connect Programme
On September 8, the undersigned along with the Principal, Ms. R Balasundari, attended the ‘Principal Connect Programme’ and Award Ceremony organised by Indian School Awards at Welcome hotel ITC, Bangalore. The programme featured an open house discussion on ‘National Education Policy 2020’, Keynote Presentation on ‘New Age Education System’ by Nithin Reddy, Founder, Fly Graduate and Keynote Presentation on ‘21 Century Education System’ by Mr. Akshay Ahuja, Robotics Education Systems co-founder. Principals of 50 schools, including our Principal, Ms. R. Balasundari were felicitated with the ‘Top Educator Award’ and were bestowed with the Certificate of Recognition.

DMCS Outreach Programme
As part of the DMCS Outreach Programme, students of neighbouring Pre-schools in Vidyaranyapura undertook a Tour of the DMCS Campus and spent time with their peers at DMCS Kinder-fun.

Education Department
Gandhi Jayanthi was observed on October 2 and the Mid- Term Examinations were conducted before we closed for the Dasara Vacation. November 1 was observed as Kannada Rajyotsava, with the proceedings at the Morning Assembly being conducted entirely in Kannada, the state language and the pride of all Kannadigas. In fact, various programmes have been held throughout the month as part of Rajyotsava Celebrations. November 10 was Ethnic Day for our students. On November 14, Children’s day was celebrated with all the usual gaiety and joy.

Walkathon
On November 18, a 3 KM Walkathon was organized for parents and grandparents. The event was organized to promote greater awareness on the theme ‘Go Green’ and ‘Road Safety’. The programme concluded with a sapling planting drive.

DMCS UKG Graduation Day

On March 13th UKG Graduation Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm. The event was honoured by the distinguished presence of Mr. Rajasekheraiaah, a prominent member of the Lions Club, who served as the Chief Guest.

Grade X Graduation Day

Under the dynamic leadership of our Honourable Chairman, Dr. Joseph V. G., the Graduation Day for the Grade X 2023-24 batch of DMCS Banaswadi and Vidyaranyapura, as well as the Grade XII 2023-24 batch of DMCS Banaswadi, was celebrated on February 4th 2024 at the picturesque Garden City University Campus.

Conclusion:

As John Dewey once said, "Education is not preparation for life; education is life itself."
