The DMCS motto Emphasis is on Life sums up the guiding principle of DMCS, namely the holistic development of the child. Under the dynamic leadership of our esteemed Chairman Dr Joseph VG, the DMCS family strives for excellence in all fields - curricular as well as co-curricular.
We are honoured to present a summary of our achievements in the year 2022-23. School reopened for the academic session 2022-23 on June 1st 2022 to a collective sigh of relief from parents, teachers and students as the two-year online mode imposed by the pandemic came to an end and we could look forward hopefully to a return to normalcy. Getting back to regular school was not without its challenges. Students had to get used to sitting in the classrooms for the whole day and gaps in learning also had to be addressed. But dedication coupled with enthusiasm enabled us to overcome all hurdles and we plunged into regular school activities practically from day one, the calendar of events having been meticulously planned beforehand.
We are happy to place on record that all curricular and co-curricular activities were designed and implemented as per the NEP norms laid down by the CBSE board.
The school day typically begins with the morning assembly, wherein students present various theme-based activities. There are regular teacher talks on various topics to enthuse the students. Sports activities, CCA competitions, National events like Independence Day, Republic Day, Teacher’s Day, Children’s Day, Annual day etc are observed with enthusiasm.
Following is a brief report on the highlights of the monthly break up of activities.
The academic year 2022-23 began with an overwhelming sense of celebration with the grade X batch of 2021-22 acing the exams with 100 % results.
Founder’s Day was enthusiastically celebrated on Saturday 18 June 2022, to mark the birthday of our esteemed Chairman, Dr. Joseph V. G. - Honorary Consul General of the Republic of Maldives in Bangalore, and Chancellor of Garden City University. The day was marked with special prayers invoking good health, peace, happiness and long life of the Founder. A special Literacy Drive named Shiksha ka Aarambh was launched to mark the occasion. Under the aforesaid Adult Literacy Programme the DMCS students took special initiative to promote literacy for the DMCS Housekeeping Staff members, to teach them reading and writing skills that will include literacy as well as numeracy skills.
The senior students of Grade X enlightened their juniors with a talk, highlighting our esteemed Chairman’s achievements as an educator and mentor, in his capacity as Chancellor of Garden City University and his role and contributions in the international sphere as Honorary Consul General of the Republic of Maldives in Bangalore. They displayed placards with quotes from the ‘Pearls of Wisdom’ of Chairman. There was a scintillating dance performance to entertain the children.
The World Environment Day was observed at DMCS Vidyaranyapura on June 6, 2022. The programme organised at the Morning Assembly, aimed to create awareness and highlight the importance of conserving the environment, included a theme-based talk, a melodious song and a dance presentation. The little ones of Kinder - Fun spent the morning planting saplings in the garden at DMCS to mark the occasion.
The Investiture Ceremony is the culmination, the high point of an election process that begins with the aspiring candidates filing their nominations for the DMCS Student Council Membership. Once these nominations are approved, the candidates canvass for votes and the students of Grades VI to X cast their votes and get their fingers inked! The counting of votes is subsequently followed by the announcement of the winning candidates and the prestigious Investiture Ceremony is thereafter held to formally induct them into office - a well thought-out process designed to bestow a hands-on experience of the voting process in a democracy
The Investiture Ceremony for the Student Council 2022-23 was held on 11th June 2022 in a crisp and well organised ceremony at Deva Matha Central School, Vidyaranyapura. The Chief Guest, Ms. Tejaswini N. – renowned Sportsperson and Motivational Speaker, congratulated the newly elected Student Council members. She exhorted them to take up their responsibilities with commitment and integrity.
International Day of Yoga - 21st June 2022
A theme- based talk on yoga and its benefits coupled with a brief note on the profound theme of Yoga for Humanity was presented. A graceful demonstration of yoga postures was held, followed by Yoga performance by all the students.
World Day Against Child Labour - 12th June 2022
World Day Against Child Labour was observed on 13th of June 2022 . The day was observed to highlight the plight of children forced into labour instead of being in school. A musical act which conveyed effectively the message against Child Labour was the highlight of the programme.
The Independence Day Celebration at DMCS was a memorable occasion, with soul-stirring patriotic zeal and fervour marking the day. Major Kashinath Rai TR accompanied by his wife Ms. Sailaja K. Rai, was the Chief Guest at the Flag hoisting ceremony. The students presented a scintillating March Past and drill displays.
Teachers’ Day was observed on 5th September 2022. The students recited a special poem to mark the day. The Student Council members had taken charge of conducting the programme. Their enthusiasm and organisational skills were praiseworthy. Floral tributes were paid to Dr. S. Radhakrishnan. Songs, Keyboard Performance and dance performances were the highlights.
World Literacy Day – 8th September 2022
DMCS Vidyaranyapura observed the World Literacy Day on 8th September 2022, with great earnestness. A theme- based dance performance added to the poignancy of the message.
Hindi Diwas – 14th September 2022
Hindi Diwas was observed on 14th September with great fervour. An array of placards and thought –provoking speeches by the students marked the occasion. Hindi songs were sung by the students, along with a recitation of the ‘Dohas’ of well-known ‘Bhakti Poet’, Rahim.
Engineers’ Day – 15th September 2022
Engineers’ Day was celebrated on the 15th of September. The day is observed on the Birth Anniversary of the illustrious Engineer - Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya, one of the great architects, of modern India. The students displayed beautifully crafted placards and spoke about the life and achievements of this great visionary. A graceful dance number centred around the theme of his achievements rounded off the celebration.
Visit by Dignitary of the Education Department of the Government of the Republic of Maldives – 23rd September 2022
DMCS Vidyaranyapura had the honour and privilege of hosting Honourable Minister of State for Education of the Republic of Maldives - Ms. Aishath Athiya Naseer on 23rd September 2022. She was escorted around the bustling campus by the Principal. She showed a keen interest in the Kinder-fun Play Arena, the School Laboratories and other important infrastructure of the school. She conveyed her warm greetings to the members of the teaching fraternity and expressed her happiness at being able to visit the school and witness its functioning.
Gandhi Jayanthi Celebrations - 2nd October 2022.
Gandhi Jayanthi was observed with due solemnity and reverence.
Floral tributes were paid by the faculty members and the Head Boy and Head Girl. A speech by the senior students highlighting the ideology and philosophy of Mahatma Gandhi, particularly- Non- Violence and the Satyagraha Movement was hugely appreciated by the juniors.
Air Force Day – 8th October 2022
Deva Matha Central School, Vidyaranyapura, observed Indian Air Force Day with a special programme to honour our brave Guardians of the Skies. A speech to highlight the bravery and achievements of the Indian Air Force was accompanied by a dance performance which further highlighted the theme of sacrifice and bravery. There was a general quiz for the students to further build their knowledge and inspire them with respect and admiration for the brave members who are constantly on the alert to guard the integrity of our nation and lay down their lives.
INVESTITURE CEREMONY OF THE SCOUTS, GUIDES, CUBS AND BULBULS 2022
The Investiture Ceremony for the new recruits of the Scouts and Guides, Cubs and Bulbuls was held on 19th October 2022. The programme began with the Scouts and Guides greeting. A formal introduction to Scouting gave a lot of valuable information regarding the nuances of Scouting and Guiding. The pinning of the badges by DMCS School Director and the Principal and the Oath taking ceremony were the highlights of the day.
Swachchatha Abhiyaan- 20th October 2022 A special programme was presented by the students as part of the inspiring Swachchatha Abhiyaan. There was a speech in Hindi highlighting the importance of cleanliness in our civic spaces. Students were exhorted to occupy their rightful place in the world and be an inspiration to other nations. A thought -provoking dance number along with beautifully crafted placards further laid stress on the importance of cleanliness in our public spaces.
Rashtriya Ekta Divas – 31st October 2022
The Rashtriya Ekta Divas was observed on 31 October 2022, to mark the 147th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel - India’s first Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister and Iron man of India. Meaningful, theme- based placards and slogans were the highlight of the day. A ‘Run for Unity’ programme was organised for grades - VIII, IX and X. Poem recitations and dance performance on the theme of unity, added beauty to the whole concept. The students also took the National Unity Pledge.
Kannada Rajyotsava Celebrations - 1st November 2022
Kannada Rajyotsava was observed with patriotic zeal and zest by the students of DMCS Vidyaranyapura. The stage was beautifully decorated with buntings of the Karnataka flag and its prominent literary figures. The activities, highlighting the rich cultural heritage, language and the origins of the state of Karnataka, extended over the month. There were speeches, mimicry and role play.
The morning assembly was conducted in Kannada language and there were dances and songs in Kannada including the ‘Nada Geethe’. A theme -based quiz was also conducted. There was a programme to highlight the prestigious ‘Gnana Peetha Awards’ and students shared details of some of the very prominent awardees of the Kannada Literary realm.
CHILDREN’S DAY CELEBRATIONS at DMCS
Children’s Day was celebrated on Nov. 14. DMCS students were dressed in their best festive attire and their smiling faces reflected Swami Vivekananda’s words so beautifully - ‘Every child is a born optimist.’. Floral tributes were paid to Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru. In a delightful address to the students, Principal-in-Charge, shared an inspiring story, illustrating the importance of shedding the burden of grudges and hatred. A theme- based speech was followed by a variety- entertainment programme that included melodious songs in Kannada and Hindi and Dance presentations by the Faculty Members and Housekeeping Staff members. Chocolates were distributed to the children and special games, quizzes, dumb charades were some of the other activities that formed part of the celebration.
DMCS VIDYARANYAPURA - ANNUAL DAY CELEBRATIONS – NAVRAS 2022
The Annual Day Celebration is one of the most impactful events on the school calendar, a visible embodiment of the talents of our students in the cultural realm. DMCS Vidyaranyapura, Annual Day Celebrations - Navras 2022 was celebrated on 3rd December 2022 The Chief Guests for the auspicious day were Ms. Mamatha and Ms. Sneha Bhat, both artists of repute in the Kannada film industry
Bharatiya Bhasha Utsav – 13th Dec 2022
Bharatiya Bhasha Utsav was observed to commemorate the birth anniversary of Mahakavi Subramanya Bharati. The students dressed in traditional attire from different parts of the country, entertained the audience by greeting and speaking in their respective languages. They also had a beautiful spread of delicacies of the regions they represented. A pledge was displayed on the board to use our own Indian languages for signing. Faculty members and parents had a delightful time signing on the board in their own mother tongues.
Free play, indigenous games, Cotton painting and Paper Craft were some of the many activities of our little kinder-fun kids to develop team spirit, physical fitness, fine motor skills and creativity.
Career Counselling Session – 17th Dec 2022.
A Career Counselling Session for students of Grade X and their parents was held at Deva Matha Central School, Vidyaranyapura on 17 Dec 2022. Mr. Saji Mathews, Career Counsellor, Psychologist, Motivational Speaker, Mentor and Coach.
Farmers’ Day - 4th January 2023
Farmers’ Day was celebrated with enthusiasm on 4th January. The students made placards, presented a talk and a tableau; dressed up in the typical attire of Indian farmers carrying with them baskets of farm produce such as vegetables, fruits and greens.
National Youth Day - 12th Jan 2023
The Scouts and Guides of Deva Matha Central School, presented talks on the significance of National Youth Day along with a talk on the life and times of Swami Vivekananda and on the theme of this year’s celebration - ‘Viksith Yuva, Viksit Bharath’.
Yogathon - 15th Jan 2023 A delegation of students from DMCS Vidyaranyapura, accompanied by the Scout and Guide Teacher and the Yoga teacher, participated in the Yogathon 2023, organised by the Govt. of Karnataka. The event was held at Jayaprakash Narayan National Youth Training Centre with 15000 students participating, to try to set a Guinness World Record. Our students too participated with enthusiasm and pride to become a part of this wonderful record - making attempt.
DMCS GRADUATION DAY 2023.
Under the dynamic leadership of our Honourable Chairman - Dr. Joseph V. G. - the Graduation Day for the outgoing students of the Grade X 2022-23 batch of students of DMCS Banaswadi and Vidyaranyapura and the students of Grade XII 2022-23 batch, DMCS Banaswadi was held at the beautiful Garden City University Campus on 4th February 2023.
Taekwondo Belt Exam - DMCS Vidyaranyapura
The Taekwondo Belt Exam was held at DMCS Vidyaranyapura on 7th February 2023. A total of 70 students participated and won their belts.
National Science Day – 28th February 2023
National Science Day was observed on 28th February 2023 at DMCS Vidyaranyapura, to mark the discovery of the Raman effect by Indian physicist Sir C. V. Raman. The students took great initiative to showcase their scientific inclination and interest by presenting talks and explaining the wonderful scientific concepts.
DMCS Vidyaranyapura Club Exhibition-2022-23
The Chief Guest Veteran Wing Commander AH Ansari accompanied by Mrs. Simmi Ansari, and the School Management, inaugurated the DMCS Clubs 2022-23 Exhibition which was held immediately after the conclusion of the Republic Day celebrations.
Art and Craft:
The Art and Craft exhibition, with its array of paintings on canvas, Mandala and Worli art pieces, masks, artefacts, origami, glass paintings, dolls, puppets, clay models and pots, using cardboard and colour paper, showcased the creative talent of the students to create best out of waste.
The Health and Wellness Club had charts, models and displays that included the Food Pyramid, Water Conservation Project, healthy salads, fruit and vegetable juices, displays and talks on yoga, medicinal value of plants, etc.
The Eco Club had an awesome display of charts and beautifully crafted models on all things environmental, such as water conservation, pollution control, rain water harvesting, deforestation etc.
The literary club had displays in the three languages, English, Kannada and Hindi. Models depicting the festivals of India, scenes of rural life, temples, and literary figures of Karnataka found a prominent place among the displays.
It had an array of models to explain various mathematical concepts along with puzzles and games. The students explained the concepts in clear and concise terms to the visitors.
‘The Indian National Movement’ and ‘India towards Development’ was the theme of the Heritage club. The highlight was a beautiful model to compare the agricultural practices in India and the USA and the use of technology in agriculture.
DMCS UKG GRADUATION DAY
The UKG Graduation Day was held at Deva Matha Central School, Vidyaranyapura on 11th March 2023. The Chief Guest for the occasion was Mr. D. V. Girish BE (Mech), Chartered Engineer and President of Lion’s Club, Vidyaranyapura.
International Women’s Day Celebrations- 8th March 2023
DMCS students presented a group dance and a talk on the significance of the day, along with the theme of this year,’ Embracing Equality’.
Robotics Demonstration – 3rd March 2023
DMCS Vidyaranyapura organised an interactive session with the Yuvi Pep Group for Grade VI and VII. The Yuvi Pep Team introduced the students to the basic principles of Robotics.
Social Responsibilities Initiatives:
Free Dental Check-up for parents and their families on 28 Feb 2023A free dental check- up was organised at DMCS Vidyaranyapura on Saturday, 28 February 2023 for the parents of our students and members of their families by KDC Dental Care and Implant Centre, between 9.30 and 11 am.
Assessments and Examinations:
Periodic Assessments, Internal Assessments. Mid term Examination and other examinations and class tests were conducted regularly, in keeping with the norms laid out by the CBSE according to the schedule.
Two Pre-board Examinations were also conducted for the students of Grade X who would be appearing for the Board Examinations this year.
Remedial classes were conducted for students requiring additional support for achieving academic excellence.
A well-planned schedule of CCA activities was diligently adhered to with students participating in activities such as Drawing and Painting, Mandala art, Craft making, puppetry, debates and story- telling. Creative writing activities such as story writing according to their grades were meticulously carried out throughout the year. Certificates and prizes were awarded to the winners.
Sports and Games:
Students participated in several inter house matches and games and prizes were given out to the winners as and when these activities were conducted.
International and National Olympiad exams were conducted in the subjects English, GK, Science, Social Science, Computer Science in which the students of all grades participated and tagged medals and certificates.
Our students participated successfully in the International and National Olympiads conducted by the SOF (Science Olympiad Foundation) during the academic year 2022-23:
Constant efforts have been made to implement the constructive suggestions made by the parents during the meetings. To name a few, Career Counselling Sessions,Additional Academic Support Sessions, etc,. were organized at the request of the parents.
Heartfelt commendations to all members of the teaching faculty for their total dedication and efforts to maintain high academic standards while ensuring that learning is fun and enjoyable to our students, with an interesting blend of curricular and co-curricular activities to ensure the holistic development of the child.
